We are seeking to appoint a scholar with a distinguished research
record in English grammar as a successor to Prof. Geoffrey Leech who
has retired recently. We especially welcome applications from
candidates whose research programme is grounded in a current
theoretical model of grammar/syntax and draws on empirical sources of
data such as corpora of spoken and written language, experimental
findings, and fieldwork.

Preference will be given to candidates with additional expertise
including - but not limited to - some other area of Linguistics and
English language studies such as dialectology, historical linguistics,
the history of English, media language, phonetics, pragmatics,
psycholinguistics and semantics.
