Description:

Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Linguistics.  Specialization in
Language Acquisition and Second Language Pedagogy with strong
founcation in functionalist or generative theory.  The successful
candidate will demonstrate both a well-defined research agenda and a
commitment to excellence in teaching.  Ph.D. dissertation must be
filed by May 31, 2003.

El Paso is an English/Spanish bilingual/bicultural community located
on the border with Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and offers plentiful
opportunities for research on language acquisition, pedagogy,
bilingualism, and many other areas of linguistics.  UTEP does not
