Subject:  Discourse Analysis Chapter for Textbook


Dear colleagues:

I am an editor of the second volume of a university textbook called
Rudiments of English Linguistics. Each chapter will be written by an
expert in the respective field. The authors come from various
countries. There is still one chapter, however, for which I have not
succeeded in finding an author: DISCOURSE ANALYSIS.  Each chapter
should have 20-25 pages and is supposed to present the basic
terminology, fundamental theories, etc. The preliminary deadline
(still negotiable) for submitting a manuscript is end of March 2003.
Unfortunately, given the economic situation of our university no
remuneration is available.

If you are an expert in the field of DISCOURSE ANALYSIS and feel like
contributing to the Rudiments please let me know as soon as possible.

Meeting Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Victoria is
honoured to host the 19th Northwest Linguistics Conference on
theoretical and applied linguistics for the year 2003. The goal of the
conference is to bring together research from different fields of
linguistics in a chance to share work on theoretical or applied
linguistics. We especially encourage abstract submissions from
graduate students.


The conference accepts papers of one page (font should not be smaller
than 12 point) on any aspect of linguistics. The length of the
presentation will be 20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for discussion and
questions. Submit a copy of the abstracts via email attachment in the
form of PDF or plain text, or by mail or fax. References must be
included on a separate sheet of paper. Author, affiliation and contact
information should not appear on the abstract but rather on a separate
sheet of paper with abstract title.
