Summer School in General, Applied, and Turkic Linguistics Preliminary
announcement Summer School in General, Applied, and Turkic Linguistics
(GAT) will be held from June 15 2003 to June 28 2003 on the site of
the Katanov State University of Khakasia located in Abakan,
Russia. Abakan is the capital of the Republic of Khakasia the native
population of which speaks the Khakas language, one of the most
ancient Turkic languages. Khakasia is famous for ancient monuments of
Sythian and Turkic cultures

The school suggests the following courses:

Methods of Linguistic Research (Prof. Ph.D. V.Iatsko)
Applied Linguistics (Prof. V.Iatsko)
Practical Course of the Khakas language (Associate Professor, Dr. T.
Borgoyakova)
Phonetics and phonology of the Khakas language (Associate Professor, Dr.
G. Kyshtymova)
Lexical system of the Khakas language (Associate Professor, Dr. T.
Tuguzhekova)
Courses in the Khakas language will be taught by native speakers. All
the courses will be taught in English. Detailed information about
syllabi, fees, etc. will be available later on the Summer School's Web
