Theme: The Dynamics of Coarticulation in Speech Production and
	Perception.

CALL FOR PAPERS
We invite anonymous abstracts for twenty-minute talks followed by
10-minute discussion. Abstracts should be related to the conference
theme: "Dynamics of coarticulation in speech production and
perception." Abstracts must not exceed one page in length (11 point
font, 1 inch margins in all directions). A second page is allowed for
data and references. Authors may submit at most one individual and one
joint abstract. Joint abstracts should designate one address for
communication with TLS.  Only e-mail submission of abstracts will be
accepted. They must be submitted as attachments to an e-mail
message. They may not be contained within the body of a message. The
body of the message should include all information listed in 1-5
below.

Please use 'TLS2002_Abstract' as the Subject header. Abstracts must be
submitted in either Word document or PDF format. No other formats will
be accepted. We will acknowledge the receipt of abstracts by e-mail.

Electronic submissions of abstracts and all queries should be directed
to the TLS 2003 e-mail address: tls at uts.cc.utexas.edu

Deadline for submission of abstracts: November 30, 2002
Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously, and notification of acceptance
will be sent by January 15, 2003.  Registration and conference
information will appear on the website of the Texas Linguistics

Call for Papers

        The Arabic Linguistics Society and Alexandria University
				announce the
	   Seventeenth Annual Symposium on Arabic Linguistics
				to be held at
                    The Cecil Hotel, Alexandria, Egypt
				May 9-10, 2003

Papers are invited on topics that deal with the application of current
linguistic theories and analyses to Arabic. Research in the following
areas of Arabic linguistics is encouraged: grammatical analysis
(phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics), sociolinguistics,
psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, historical linguistics, corpus
linguistics, computer modeling, etc.  Papers on Arabic Pedagogy are
normally not accepted.
