Description:

The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences
(Theoretical and Applied Linguistics) is seeking to make a junior
appointment of a scholar with expertise in the area of syntactic
theory as a Lecturer in Syntactic Theory. The area of specialisation
is open but ideally the candidate will have some familiarity with
different theoretical approaches to syntax and have interests in the
analysis of a language or languages other than English. An active
interest in some other related field is also desirable, such as:
semantics; pragmatics; language acquisition; sociolinguistic
variation; language change; psycholinguistics; computational
linguistics.

The successful applicant will have proven research potential, and be
committed to developing teaching in theoretical and descriptive syntax
at postgraduate and undergraduate levels.  Ideally, the successful
candidate will be interested in developing interdisciplinary links
within the school and with other units in the university.

The appointment will be made on the Lecturer A scale (£22,191-
£25,451).
