Meeting Description:

The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for postgraduate
students from a range of disciplines to present new research to an
interested and friendly audience. The scope of the conference is
deliberately broader than that currently offered at post-graduate
level, and in this way we aim to create a forum for interdisciplinary
discussion, bringing together the disparate threads of research in
language.

SCOPE:
The University of Cambridge Second Postgraduate Conference in Language
Research (CamLing) is organised with the support of the University of
Cambridge Institute of Language Research (CILR). We invite
postgraduate students to submit abstracts for oral and poster
presentations on ANY topic of linguistic interest.

IMPORTANT DATES:
Abstract submission deadline: 	        12 January 2004
Notification of acceptance: 		20 February 2004
Registration deadline:			5 March 2004
Conference date:			19-20 March 2004

Meeting Description:

An international symposium on Processability Theory, second language
acquisition and bilingualism The seminar is open to everyone, with no
participation fees. Special emphasis will be given to theoretical and
methodological discussions on Processability theory: a whole afternoon
will be dedicated to data analysis and practical aspects of conducting
research within this framework; particular attention will be devoted
to research in progress which makes use, completely or in part, of
Processability theory. Plenary talks and a workshop for post-graduate
students are also scheduled.

Last but not least, participants will be able to enjoy Sardinian
hospitality and discover some of its beauties in one of the best
seasons for a visit.

The following scholars have already announced their participation:
Manfred Pienemann, Gisela Hakansson, Fethi Mansouri, Satomi Kawaguchi,
Yanyin Zhang, Camilla Bettoni, Bruno Di Biase, Gabriele Pallotti.

Submissions on work related to Processability and Second Language
Acquisition / Bilingualism are invited for two categories of papers
(1) Research papers and
(2) Presentations on work in progress by postgraduate students.

Submissions should include an abstract of 200 words, name, position,
contact details and affiliation. Please send submissions to the
symposium organizers (processability at libero.it) by 20 December
2003. All abstracts will be reviewed, and notifications will be sent
out by 10 January 2004. Presentations will be 30 minutes plus 10
Minutes for discussion.
