Description:

The Division of Computational Linguistics in the Dept. of Linguistics
at the University of Tübingen, Germany is searching for a
computational linguist whose research experience complements existing
strengths in the department.  While computational linguists working in
any subarea of the field are encouraged to apply, preference will be
given to candidates who specialize in one or more of the following
areas:

* data-driven approaches to computational linguistics (esp. machine
learning)

* information extraction
* text summarization
* dialogue modelling
* question-answering
* computational lexicography

Duties for this post include teaching, independent research and
participation in externally-funded, on-going research

The starting date for the position is February 1, 2004.  The position
is funded until September 30, 2005.  However, shorter periods of
employment are also possible.

The position is at the rank of ''Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter''
(M.A. or equivalent required; Ph.D. or equivalent preferred).  The
salary is determined by the German civil servants standard
(Vergütungsgruppe BAT IIa) and amounts to approximately 40.000
Euro (salary and benefits) per year.  The exact salary amount varies
depending on age and marital status.
