The Graduate School of Linguistics of Universite Paris 7 organizes
this meeting to promote exchange and communication among doctoral
students of different fields of interest in Linguistics. All topics
are suitable for presentation. Official languages are English and

Call for papers,
SUBMISSION DEADLINE : March 10th 2003

The Linguistics Graduate Students Workshop at Universite Paris 7
(ADL) will hold its 8th Doctoral Meeting on July 7th and 8th 2003,
with the support of Universite Paris 7 and its Graduate School in
Linguistics. The purpose of the meeting is to promote exchange and
communication among doctoral students of different fields of interest
in Linguistics. All topics are suitable for presentation.  Speakers
will be given 20 minutes to present their paper, followed by 10
minutes for questions. Official languages for the conference are
French and English.  You can find information regarding the format of
submissions on our website.  Speakers travelling more than 100 km are
eligible for partial reimbursement of their transportation costs.

Notification of acceptance : May, 12th, 2003
Conference : July, 7th and 8th 2003

Contributors are asked to submit an abstract of one or two pages
describing the issues, presenting an analysis and evidence for any
proposals made, including samples of data and, possibly, an additional
page with references.  Anonymous abstracts must be sent by e-mail as
an attached file by March 10th, 2003, to
	      submit.adl at linguist.jussieu.fr

Authors' names should be included in the body of the message.

If you do not use e-mail, please send three copies of your abstract to

Meeting Description:

Stanford, California, 26 June 2003 (co-located with CONTEXT '03)

The late Jon Barwise was, among many other things, the first director
of the Center for the Study of Language and Information at Stanford.
His book with John Perry, Situations and Attitudes, appeared some
twenty years ago (in 1983), launching situation semantics, a semantic
framework where context is analyzed in terms of situations.

This workshop provides a forum for works addressing the following
question: What problems, issues and/or insights connected with
situation semantics and Barwise motivate your research today? And how?

Please e-mail abstracts of up to 3 pages (11pt, PDF, PostScript or
ASCII) to Tim.Fernando at cs.tcd.ie on or before February 15, 2003.
Notification can be expected by March 15.
