2003 IALP Aphasia Committee Symposium on Neurogenic Language Disorders
in Children

Meeting Description:

The Aphasia Committee of the International Association of Logopedics
and Phoniatrics (IALP) is pleased to announce the 2003 International
Aphasia Committee Symposium to be held in Cividale del Friuli (100 km
from Venice, Italy) on 9-10 May 2003. The main topics of discussion
will be language and communication disorders in children subsequent to
polytraumatic lesions, Landau-Kleffner Syndrome (acquired epileptic
aphasia), brain malformations, very early brain lesions, and surgical
treatment of brain tumor. Further, contributions will discuss the
neurobiological basis of language rehabilitation and long term effects
of childhood aphasia.  World leading scientists on the topic will
present their contributions.

The invited speakers will present their communications informally (in
workshop-like sessions), with much room left to discussion. There will
also be a poster session, to which especially young scientists are
welcome to contribute.

Speakers presentations and the most relevant posters will be published
in a Special Issue of the Journal of Neurolinguistics and in a volume
of the IALP series.

You can partecipate in either of two ways: as an auditor or by
contributing a poster to the poster session.  Partecipation to the
poster session is free of charge and grants a seat as auditor. Please
send your cv and an abstract of your proposal to:
ialp-aphasia at sv.Lnf.it; please specify POSTER in the message header.
Participation as auditor is also free of charge but there is a limited
number of seats available. Please send your cv to:
ialp-aphasia at sv.Lnf.it ; please specify AUDITOR in the message header.

Deadline for submitting proposals for poster session and requests of
participation as auditor: 15 March 2003 Notifications of acceptance
will be sent by 25 March 2003
