Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in Grenoble (France)
Field: Statistical Natural Language Processing.

The LIDILEM (Laboratoire de Linguistique et Didactique Langue
Etrangère et Maternelle) of the Stendhal University carries out
research projects in several domains of multilingual corpus processing
and contrastive studies (alignment evaluation, collocation
identification, disambiguation, bilingual lexicon extraction). The
LIDILEM is currently looking for a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in
Linguistics or Computer Science to contribute to its research
activities in the domain of Multilingual Resources Development. The
foreseen research activity will take place in the framework of the
CARMEL project, of 18 months' duration, funded by the French Culture
Ministry. CARMEL Project aims at constructing a large scale aligned
corpus in the field of European realist literature of the 19th. This
multilingual corpus, including French, English, Italian and Spanish
texts, will be thematically annotated and semantically tagged, using
original methods taking advantage of parallelism and
multilingualism. Another outcome of CARMEL Projects will be the
development of standard tools for aligning and disambiguating,
implementing new techniques that will have to be evaluated on the
corpus.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science or Linguistics in the
field of Statistical Natural Language Processing. Skills in Prolog
programming are required. An experience in corpus construction and
annotation is desirable. Applicants must speak fluent French or
English, and a good knowledge of Spanish or Italian languages will be
a plus.

The position is available immediately and runs for 8, 10 or 16 months
(depending on applicant availability). It will be held at Université
Stendhal Grenoble 3 (Grenoble, France). The appointment will be about
2500 euros/month (including benefits). Interested persons should
