FELLOWSHIP IN APPLIED LINGUISTICS
University of Alaska Fairbanks

The Univeristy of Alaska Fairbanks announces the availability of a
fellowship for students entering the MA in Applied Linguistics degree
program. This degree program focuses on language documentation and
second language pedagogy (either teaching or materials development)
for Alaska Native Languages, Foreign Languages, or English as a Second
Language. The applicant must be a speaker or an active learner of the
language she or he intends to work on. Depending on interests and
qualifications, the applicant may work with a faculty member as an
intern in a language course or to carry out a materials development or
language documentation project.

Terms of the Award: This award provides a $11,000 stipend in addition
to tuition and fees.  Recipients must maintain continuous full-time
enrollment and good academic standing at UAF throughout the tenure of
the award.  Award recipients may not be otherwise employed during the
tenure of this award.

Application Procedure:
Please submit the following:

1. Completed Application for Graduate Admission or proof of
   acceptance. (See http://www.uaf.edu/admissions/apply).
2. Statement of goals: write a statement indicating your specific
   interests in language work (e.g., teaching, documentation,
   translation, etc.) and cite any experience you have had in this area.
3. Two letters of recommendation.

Award Determination: Applications for the award will be reviewed by a
committee of faculty from Linguistics, the Alaska Native Language
Center, Foreign Languages and Literatures, and English.
