38th International Conference on Salish and Neighboring Languages
Upper Státimc Language, Culture and Education Society
Lillooet, BC
August 13-15, 2003

This year's conference will be hosted by the Upper Státimc Language,
Culture and Education Society and will take place in Lillooet, British
Columbia on August 13-15. Papers on all aspects of the study,
preservation, and teaching of Salish and neighboring languages are
welcome.

Papers for the ICSNL should be submitted by Friday, May 31, 2003, and
will be printed and distributed prior to the conference by the
University of British Columbia Working Papers in Linguistics, as was
done last year. There are no page limits.  An electronic copy as well
as a hard copy of the paper should be submitted.  Word files with any
special fonts will be accepted, however, PDF files are preferred.  A
style sheet is available at

Although the official deadline for proposing papers and panels has
passed, there is space to fit a few more papers into the final
program.  If you would like to participate, send information as soon
as possible to Prof.  Scatton as listed below.

The Bulgarian Studies Association, with assistance from The Ohio State
University, is proud to announce the

7th Joint Meeting and Conference of North American and Bulgarian
Scholars and the

30th Anniversary Celebration of the 1st Joint Meeting and the Founding
of the Bulgarian Studies Association

October 9-October 12, 2003 at The Ohio State University, Columbus,
Ohio, USA.

Proposals are solicited for presentations (twenty-minute
limit). Original papers dealing with Bulgarian issues in all
humanistic or social science disciplines are welcome.  Scholars from
anywhere in the world are welcome to present papers or simply attend.
Complete thematic panels (maximum 4 papers per panel) may also be
proposed.  Prospective participants are requested to send (1) a title,
(2) an abstract (not to exceed one single-spaced printed page), (3) a
brief CV, and (4) full contact information, including
phone/e-mail/fax, to the Chair of the Program Committee at any of the
