Description:

The American University of Sharjah, located in the United Arab
Emirates, is accepting applications for a position in
CALL/Instructional Technology at the Assistant Professor level or
above.  The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in the
use of CALL and Instructional technology in various ESL curricula,
TESOL theory and methodology, curriculum design, and teacher education
and development within a newly proposed M.A. TESOL program. A
twelve-hour teaching load will include freshman composition
courses. Other responsibilities include research, service, and
advising.

The successful candidate will have completed a doctorate in Applied
Linguistics, Language Education with special emphasis on CALL,
Instructional Technology, TESOL, or a closely related field by the
time the appointment begins.  Preferred candidates should have a clear
research record of relevant publications in CALL/Instructional
Technology.  Preferred candidates will also have experience teaching
technology in the ESL curriculum, demonstrated excellence in teaching
graduate and undergraduate courses, and experience with a
multicultural student body. Knowledge of one or more languages other
than English is highly desirable.

will continue until the position is filled.  Position starting date is
mid-August, 2003.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.
