We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Good morning!

Does anyone know of an on-line resource where I can find a list of
spoken language names, listed in their native languages? For example,
español, français, Deutsch, etc. Of course, the English
name as reference would be helpful too. I'm looking for
about 40 different language names. Ideally, I need an official list
that I don't need to have double-checked, and this includes
the listing of the name with language-appropriate capitalization.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hello, I am writing a paper on mass media's impact on the English
language, specifically modern American English. I'm having a bit of
difficulty finding sources. Can any linguists out there point me in a
good direction? Thanks.
