SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
======================

The TeX Users Group (TUG) Annual Meeting and Conference for the year
2004 will take place in Xanthi, Greece. It will be the first time that
the TUG Annual Meeting and Conference will coincide with the
International Olympic Games. In fact, the Conference will be held
between Aug. 30 and Sept. 3, 2004, immediately after the 2004
International Olympic Games (Athens, Greece, Aug. 11-29, 2004) and
just before the 2004 International Paralympic Games (Athens, Greece,
Sept.  17-28, 2004). So come and join the TeX Community in the
Olympics for the first time ever!

Main Conference Theme:
- --------------------
TeX in the era of XML and Unicode

The Conference will be focused on the use of TeX in the preparation of
multilingual, complex documents for various output devices in
combination with XML and Unicode. Merging SVG, XSL-FO and XSLT with
existing TeXnologies, the preparation of electronic books, and the
typesetting of rare and lost scripts (Linear A/B, Maya Hieroglyphics,
etc.) are some of the main topics of interest.

The official language of the Conference is English.

Proceedings will be published in a volume of Springer's Lecture Notes
in Computer Science (LNCS).  A Pre-Proceeedings will be published in
the TUGboat Journal.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

For the initial submission of abstracts, prospective authors should
send (via email to tug2004 at ocean1.ee.duth.gr) a short note with

	- the name of the author(s),
	- affiliation,
	- contact address,
	- title of the paper, and
	- an abstract of up to 250 words.

The abstract must be in LaTeX or plain ASCII format. The authors will
be notified whether their paper has been accepted or not shortly after
it has been submitted. Detailed instructions regarding the format of
final manuscripts will follow acceptance notifications.

Linguistics.  Presentations will be 20 minutes long (in English)
followed by a 10-minute discussion period.

Deadline for Abstracts : Friday, January 16,  2004

Abstract Guidelines:
PDF files are preferred, but abstracts may be sent in plain text,
Word, or RTF formats.  If you use any nonstandard fonts, PDF format is
strongly recommended.  Abstracts should be one-page long in 12-point
fonts, with an optional additional page for examples, figures, tables
or references. Please do not include any author information in your
abstract but provide the following information in the body of your
message:

a) Title of paper
b) Author's name(s) and affiliation(s)
c) Email address
d) Address and phone number

Electronic submissions are preferred and should be sent to the
following address.  Please send your abstract as an attachment to your
