Description:

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Department of Spanish and
Portuguese announces a tenure track, open rank position in Spanish
Sociolinguistics with a sub-specialty in translation, second language
acquisition or Portuguese linguistics.  The successful candidate will
serve both undergraduates and graduates, offering courses in
linguistics, language and culture, and depending on sub-specialty,
will be involved with the Department's undergraduate and graduate
translation program, future language teachers, or with the Portuguese
program.

Applicants must have the Ph.D. in an appropriate area of Hispanic
Linguistics, a native or near-native command of Spanish, a near-native
command of Portuguese, if applicable, and demonstrable commitment to
both teaching and scholarship.  Opportunities exist for collaboration
with interdisciplinary programs and research centers.  Send letter of
