Applications and nominations are invited for several faculty positions
in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture (TLAC) in the
College of Education and Human Development.

Texas A&M University is a Land Grant/Sea Grant/Space Grant, Research I
institution that aspires to preeminence in teaching, research, and
service. Nationally, TAMU ranks in the top 10 in categories such as:
extramural research funding, student enrollment and level of
endowment. Three departmental graduate programs are nationally ranked
in the top 25 in Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, and
Secondary Education.  Interdisciplinary pre-service programs are noted
for their innovation, interdepartmental collaboration, and the
development of extensive partnerships with public schools.  Currently,
the College of Education and Human Development and the department are
integrally involved with a TAMU system initiative to enhance teacher
preparation, a grant from the American Association of Science to
provide support for middle school teachers to improve achievement of
students in middle school mathematics, and an NSF grant establishing
an Information Technology in Science Teaching Center. The TLAC
undergraduate teacher education program was recognized in 2003 as an
exemplary University Signature Program.

ESL Education (Tenure-Line Position): Assistant/Associate Professor,
Teach undergraduate courses in second language acquisition and
development and English as a second language teaching methods.  Teach
specialized ESL courses at the graduate level. Search Chair:
Dr. Zohreh Eslami-Rasekh

Applications for this tenure-line position should include evidence to
support the following requirements: Earned Doctorate in the
appropriate field; capacity and disposition to successfully engage in
scholarly activities such as researching, publishing, attaining
extramural funding to support R&D; prior success as a practicing
educational professional, commitment to developing exemplary
university teaching; ability to integrate and model the use of
instructional technology with school-aged learners and university
students; ability to connect subject matter discipline to critical and
multicultural theories and practices. In addition to the primary field
of expertise and preparation required for the position, expertise in
an additional supporting area such as social or cultural foundations
of education is preferred.  The position includes teaching
undergraduate through Ph.D. level courses; advising and mentoring
graduate students; pursuing programmatic research leading to refereed
publications and extramural research support; and serving the
department, college, institution, and the profession.
