Description:

Director of the Basic Language Program in German and Assistant
Professor of German. Experience in training and mentoring teaching
assistants.  Expertise in the application of technologies in language
instruction, for example, web-based delivery.  The successful
candidate will be expected to contribute to the BA and BAT in German
by providing instruction in such areas as teaching methods for future
high school teachers, Business German, etc. Ability to teach courses
in an interdisciplinary SLA program preferred.  Ph.D. in Applied
Linguistics or German, final Ph.D. defense by August 16, 2004.
Near-native equivalency in German and English is expected.

Duties: Undergraduate and graduate instruction; curriculum development
and coordination in the undergraduate language program.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience (entry level
salary with Ph.D. completed is $40,000).

Starting date: August 16, 2004.

Terms of employment: Full time, non-tenure track, annually renewable.
Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the MLA meeting.
