Abstract:

Unlike clinical neurolinguistics, theoretical neurolinguistics is
concerned with the problems of compatibility and the linking of
linguistic, neurpsychological and philosophical research which is
necessary for the understanding of pathological cases concerning
language. Keeping this in mind, the author successively presents the
basic principles of Guillaumien linguistics, a series of classical
data of the neuropsychology of aphasia and a philosophical conception
of the relationship between thought and language (the same as that
developed by Merleau-Ponty). This book is indispensible reference work
for linguists, neuropsychologists and philosophers who are interested
in the biological aspects of human language.
