perspective are invited for 20-minute talks for the general
session. There will also be a special session on formal approaches to
Spanish and Portuguese linguistics. Abstract for the special session

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

General session: Abstracts from all areas of formal linguistics from
any theoretical perspective are invited for 20-minute talks.

Special session: Formal Approaches to Spanish and Portuguese
Linguistics

Abstracts are invited for 20 minute talks.

Invited Speaker:

Deadline for receipt of abstracts: November 30, 2003

Abstract requirements: Submissions are limited to one individual and
one joint abstract (or, two joint abstracts) per author. Abstract text
should be single-spaced on one letter size (8.5x11 inch) or A4 page,
in 11 point or larger font and one inch margins on all sides. An
additional page for data, tables, figures, charts, graphics, and/or
references may be included.

Submission by e-mail is preferred, but snail-mail submissions will be
accepted if absolutely necessary.

E-mail submission: Send e-mail message to wccfl at ucdavis.edu. Attach an
anonymous pdf (preferred) or postsrcipt file to your message. The
subject line should read ''abstract'' and the body of the message
should contain the following information:

Title of the paper
Area(s) of linguistics (phonology, syntax, etc)
Session (general or special)
Name(s) of author(s)
Affiliation(s)
e-mail address(es)
Snail-mail address(es)
Phone number (optional)

Snail-mail submission (discouraged): Mail ten anonymous copies of your
abstract and an index card containing the information specified above
to:

Allow ample time for receipt of snail-mailed abstracts. Abstracts
received after the deadline cannot be accepted even if the delay was
beyond the author's control.

Notification of acceptance will take place in early February, 2004.

Linguistic Sub-field: General Linguistics

Meeting Description: First call for abstracts for the GLOW meeting.

The GLOW Colloquium (Generative Linguistics in the Old World) will be
held in Thessaloniki, Greece, in April 2004. The main colloquium will
take place from the 19th to the 21st of April and will be preceded by
the three Glow Workshops on the 18th. The GLOW Colloquium (Generative
Linguistics in the Old World) will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, in
April 2004, hosted by the Linguistics and the German Department of the
Aristotle University. The Colloquium will take place from April 19 to
April 21, preceded by three workshops on April 18. The theme of the
Colloquium is free. The three workshops will be on (1) Tense, Aspect,
Modality, (2) Theoretical approaches to language contact and (3)
(Phonology) Markedness. The deadline for submissions for the
Colloquium and the workshops is December, 1st.  This is the first
call. The description of the workshops and information for the
submission of abstracts can be obtained at the GLOW website

at: www.auth.gr/del/GLOW2004 Information concerning the local
organisation, registration fee, bookings, travel and accommodation as
well as other events will be available with the second call the first
