Meeting Description:

Papers are invited for a 20-minute presentation in all areas of
developing language skills and from any theoretical perspective. Send
one copy of a one-page abstract for review. (There may be an
additional page for references.) The abstract must specify which
meeting you wish to present in (Beijing or Shanghai or both), title of
paper, authors name, academic affiliation, current and
summer address, phone and fax number, e-mail, and audiovisual
requests. Abstracts must be on a single page, single spaced, in
12-point type, with one inch margins. Abstracts may be submitted via
e-mail or mail. If submitted via email, they may be included in the
body of the e-mail message or as an attachment.  Please do not send
abstracts by fax.

The Sixth International Symposium on Applied Linguistics and Language
Teaching (Beijing-Shanghai) now calls for papers.

3. Date: Oct. 7-15, 2003

Oct. 7      Arrival & registration in Beijing

Oct. 8-9 Plenary & group sessions for paper presentations, seminars &
workshops.

Oct. 10 Visiting places of historical interest (One night of
performance of Beijing opera or equivalent during Oct. 8-10)

Oct. 11 Sight-seeing in the morning & flight to Shanghai in the
afternoon

Oct. 12-13 Conference in Shanghai, with a night tour of the Bund
& the new Pudong District

Oct. 14 Tour of New Shanghai, with some entertainment at night

Oct. 15 Departure

4. Location: Beijing and/or Shanghai

of the 6th International Symposium on Applied Linguistics and Language
Teaching one year after the conference and will be sent to their
authors by mail.

9.Fees
  9.1. For the Beijing portion:       US$550.00
  9.2. For the Shanghai portion:     US$500.00
  9.3. For both Beijing & Shanghai, incl. the flight Beijing-Shanghai:
US$1100.00.

These fees include US$100.00 for registration and all other expenses
(food, accommodation, transportation, tickets, publication and a
complimentary copy of the proceedings, etc.) They are for double-room
in a 3-star hotel or above. For single room, add $20 per person per
day.

9.4. For spouse/child
  The Beijing portion alone:       US$300.00
  The Shanghai portion alone:     US$300.00
  Both Beijing & Shanghai, incl. the Beijing-Shanghai flight: US$700.00

10. Registration: American and European participants may register at

countries or regions may register at Zhang Zhihui, BUAA.
