TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN ENGLISH
Assistant Professor

Position Summary
A full-time, tenure-track position in Applied Linguistics.

Minimum Qualifications
ABD in Applied Linguistics, with two years of teaching experience at
the university level.  The Ph.D. must be completed by the end of the
first academic year of appointment (May 31, 2005); continued
employment is contingent on completion of the Ph.D. by this date.

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics; experience in teaching upper-division
and graduate courses in ESL pedagogy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Teach courses such as, but not exclusively: TESOL Methodology;
Teaching Language and Literature in the ESL Context; Pedagogical
Grammar for TESOL; Introduction to Second Language Learning and
Teaching; Linguistic Analysis.  Direct M.A. theses/final projects.
Advise students.  Service to department and university.

Department's Programs
Bachelor's degree programs in Literature, and in Language and
Linguistics; a minor in English; a minor in Language and Linguistics;
Subject-Matter Preparation Program in English [teacher credential
program]; Graduate degree programs in Literature, Literature with a
concentration in Rhetoric and Composition, and TESL.  Access our
