THE NORTH AMERICAN CONFERENCE ON AFROASIATIC LINGUISTICS (NACAL)

32nd Annual Meeting

will be held

March 12-14, 2004 (Friday-Sunday morning)

to be held at San Diego Old Town Courtyard by Marriott
San Diego, California, USA

Papers are invited on any linguistic subject relevant to any language
of the Afroasiatic phylum (Chadic, Berber, Cushitic, Omotic, Egyptian,
Semitic). Research on areas such as the following is encouraged:
grammatical analysis (semantics, syntax, morphology, phonology),
sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, historical
linguistics, writing systems, etc.

TO SUBMIT A PAPER:

Those wishing to present a paper should send the following to the
address printed below (or send via the NACAL2004 at yahoo.com email) by
December 23, 2003:

1. Electronic abstracts (Word, .rtf, or .pdf formats only) may be sent
to NACAL2004 at yahoo.com .  Please be sure that all necessary fonts are
embedded in the document.  If you are unable to send your abstract
electronically, you may post the documents to the address below.  The
title of your presentation and your name should appear at the top of
the abstract.

the $50 ($25 for students, unemployed and those from soft-currency
countries) pre-registration fee (checks payable to Michael Ahland) to
the address above by January 19, 2004.

After January 19, the registration fee will be $60 ($30 for students,
unemployed and those from soft-currency countries).

As in previous years, NACAL will be in relatively close proximity to
the American Oriental Society conference

12-14.  The AOS meetings can be reached by taking a free shuttle to
the train/trolley station and traveling to Hazard Center, where the
AOS meetings are being held in the DoubleTree Hotel. The San Diego Old
Town Courtyard by Marriott is located just off I-5, only minutes from
Lindbergh International Airport (SAN), in San Diego's historic Old
Town.
