Announcement of a Job Opening

The Department of Language Communication of Aichi Shukutoku University
invites applications for the post of full-time associate professor or
professor beginning on April 1, 2005.

1. Responsibilities

Teach a minimum of six courses in Applied Linguistics
(Sociolinguistics, English Linguistics for TESOL, etc.) at both the
Undergraduate and Graduate level.  Advise and serve on committees for
graduate students.  Serve on Departmental, Faculty, and/or University
wide committees.

2. Qualifications

(1) Native speaker of English
(2) Earned doctorate in the area of Applied Linguistics
(3) Four or more years experience of teaching at the Undergraduate
    level
(4) 8 publications or more (including non-refereed and "vanity"
    publications), or 12 points or more (3 points for books, 2 points
    for refereed papers and 1 point for non-refereed papers)
(5) Sufficient ability in written and spoken Japanese to participate
    in faculty affairs. (Otherwise the candidate should be willing to
    learn Japanese and pass the 2nd level of the Japanese Proficiency
    Exam within 5 years to renew the contract).

(2) List of publications with short abstracts, dates, and pages List
    the publications in chronological order under the headings of
    "books" and "research papers"
(3) Two letters of recommendation
(4) Photocopies of degree certificates (Application documents cannot
    be returned, and the department reserves the right to ask the
    short-listed candidates for additional documentation).

7. Information about Aichi Shukutoku University:

	Aichi Shukutoku University (ASU) is a private university that
was established in 1975 as part of the Aichi Shukutoku Gakuen.  ASU
offers undergraduate programs in six different faculties (Faculty of
Letters, Faculty of Studies in Contemporary Society, Faculty of
Communication Studies, Faculty of Creativity and Culture, Faculty of
Business, and Faculty of Medical Welfare) across two different
campuses.  ASU also offers graduate level programs in four different
faculties (Graduate School of Letters, Graduate School of
Communication Studies, Graduate School of Studies on Contemporary
Society, and Graduate School of Creativity and Culture). The
Department of Language Communication in the Faculty of Communication
Studies is located on the Nagakute Campus of ASU.  Nagakute is a
suburb of Nagoya, Japan's fourth largest city.  Despite its closeness
to a large urban area, the Nagakute campus is located in a quiet area
