M Phil/PhD Studentships 2005

The Department of Human Communication Science,
University College London has studentships for MPhil/PhD starting in
October 2005.

The Department received a 5 rating in the 2001 RAE and has more than 21
academic staff specialising in a variety of fields within Human
Communication Science, organised within three research groupings:
Communication, Disorder and the Brain; Development, Language and Cognitive
Science; and Inter-professional Education and Health Studies. It houses one
Research Centre (Centre for Developmental Language Disorders and Cognitive
Neuroscience; CDLDCN) and anticipates housing the interdepartmental Centre
for Human Communication. For more information about the Department, please
visit our website: www.ucl.ac.uk/HCS

The studentship will pay a stipend of £12,500 p.a. for three or four
years full-time study (depending on entry qualifications), and
appropriate university tuition fees will be paid. Successful students will
be eligible to undertake a limited amount of teaching and tutoring within
the department. Studentships are open to home and overseas students. Fees
will be paid at the UK/EU rate only, so overseas students will need
supplementary funding from other sources.

Applications are welcomed for studentships within any of the research
groupings. One studentship will be available in the Centre for
Developmental Language Disorders and Cognitive Neuroscience.
Informal enquires should be addressed to Professor Heather van der Lely
(020 7679 4047 h.vanderlely at ucl.ac.uk) or to Professor Ruth Campbell (020
