Subject:  Berber Course for Linguists at the University of Bremen


The Linguistics Department of the University of Bremen/Germany
organises a one-week-long intensive course of Berber (Tarifit variety)
for linguists.  The course starts on April 1st and lasts until April
7th, 2004. Language of instruction is German. The teacher is
Prof. Mohand Tilmatine (Cádiz, Spain) who offers 6 hours daily of
grammar, practical language training, and lectures on Berber language
history. Participants who pass the final written exam are entitled to
receiving a special certificate. Participants will also receive
credits. The fee is 200 Euros for non-students, 100 Euros for
university students.  Deadline for applications is March 5th,

               Theoretical and Applied Linguistics
       School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences

We are now accepting applications for this one-year taught master's
for the academic year 2004-2005.

The aim of our programme is to provide (a) an advanced understanding
of current research on first & second language acquisition, attrition
and language change from the perspectives of linguistics and cognitive
psychology, and (b) the methodological skills needed to conduct novel
research in these fields.

The programme consists of two semesters of coursework and a supervised
dissertation.

Students will have access to our excellent laboratory and
computational facilities, and a teaching staff drawn from one of the
largest concentrations of language researchers studying the formal,
computational, and psychological aspects of language.
