Description:

The Yamaji Languages Aboriginal Corporation (Yamaji Language Centre)
is seeking to employ two full-time qualified Linguists to continue
work in the preservation, maintenance and revival of Indigenous
languages in the Yamaji region of WA.


Position 1-Badimaya
Purpose: To complete research towards the publication and printing of
a Badimaya wordlist and dictionary. To continue ongoing linguistic
research into the Badimaya language, in a culturally appropriate way.


Position 2 -- Warriyangka and Ngarlawangga Linguist
Purpose: To continue linguistic research into Ngarlawangga and
Warriyangka languages in a culturally appropriate way.


Skills and Experience required:
A. Essential:
* Qualifications in Linguistics, or demonstrated skills and experience
  in Linguistics and Linguistic fieldwork
* Experience in working with Aboriginal people
* A commitment to the preservation of Aboriginal languages
* A commitment to the principles of Self-determination and Aboriginal
  control
* Ability to work unsupervised
* "A" class driver's license

B. Desirable:
* Qualifications in Education
* Speaks an Aboriginal language, or has a second language
* Experience working with Aboriginal languages
* Word processing and desktop publishing experience
