We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Dear Linguists,

I'm currently at the beginning of assembling a grammar of a highly
polysynthetic language. Although there are some model grammars of
languages of this kind, such as Nick Evans' Bininj-Gunwok, I'd like to
make the outcome of my work as useful and pleasant for the reader as
possible. Full scale descriptive grammars tend to be rather expensive,
and everyone spending that much money wants to find as much of his or
her personal questions answered in the respective work.

For this reason, please tell me about your personal preferences about
large descriptive grammars (the kind of gramars that comprise 500+
pages). Any hints on any matter that comes to your mind are
appreciated: The way certain topics are covered, the format of
language examples you prefer, general stylistic preferences,
etc. etc. I do have a favourite format, of course, but I would like to
incorporate as many preferences of potential readers as well.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Dear all,

I would like to use LFG grammars and therefore, I am looking for a
freely available LFG Parser.

Any help appreciated,
Petra Gieselmann
