Description:

Applications are invited for the following research post in
conjunction with a research project funded by the Arts and Humanities
Research Board (UK) for a fixed period of 3 years, starting in October
2004. Native or near-native ability in English and German is required.

The German Language and the Future of Europe: Ideologies, policies and
practices

Research Assistant Ref: 03A0866. You will have a PhD in a humanities/
social science subject area relevant to the project (preferably in
sociolinguistics) and will have a strong grounding in critical
discourse analysis and ethnographic methods. You will investigate the
competition between German and English for influence in the cultural
and economic space of central and eastern Europe.

Salary will start at £21, 852 per annum on Research Assistant spinal
point 7.
