Lecturer, Applied Linguistics, tenure track, beginning fall
2004. One-year appointment. The teaching duties will consist of a
combination of linguistics and ESL theory and pedagogy courses, both
at the undergraduate and graduate level. Minimum qualifications:
A.B.D. or Ph.D. in Applied linguistics or closely related field by
August 2004. The Department of English has two dynamic graduate
programs, an M.A. in English and a Master of Arts in English as a
Second Language. The department has plans for a new M.F.A. in Creative
Writing and a Ph.D. in composition studies.

The University of Texas-Pan American serves the Rio Grande Valley,
enrolls 15,000 students as a member of the University of Texas System.
UTPA is located in one of the fastest growing areas in the country, in
semi-tropical South Texas, in close proximity to Mexico and the
beautiful beaches of South Padre Island. For more information, please
