The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

Description:

Research Assistant/ Lab Manager Position

The NYU Neurolinguistics Laboratory is looking to fill a full-time
Research Assistant/Lab Manager position. Starting date is negotiable,
but September 1 2004 is preferred. The position is for a one year
initial appointment, with the possibility of extension beyond that
time. Salary is $30,000, with benefits included. The position would be
ideal for a person with a BA/SB or MA/SM degree who is interested in
gaining significant research experience in experimental linguistics.

The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the
design, testing and analysis of language processing studies using
behavioral and neuromagnetic measures (training provided). The
research spans from lexical access and morphology to studies of
sentence level syntax and semantics. Previous experience in
linguistics and/or psycholinguistics is preferred. Most of the
research in the Neurolinguistics Laboratory uses MEG recordings
performed at the Center for Neuromagnetism at the NYU School of
Medicine, but techniques available to the lab also include EEG and
fMRI in the NYU Psychology Department. Experience in any of these
techniques as well as the ability to interact comfortably with a wide
variety of people (and computer programs) is a distinct advantage. For
more information, contact Prof. Liina Pylkkanen,
