Associate Professor / Professor in Applied Language Studies

Department of Applied Languages and Linguistics

The position will be in the area of Discourse and Genre Analysis with
particular reference to learners of English as an additional language.
Candidates will be expected to provide dynamic leadership in research,
conduct and publish their own research, engage in undergraduate and
graduate teaching, supervise postgraduate research, and contribute to
departmental administration.

Candidates will demonstrate excellence in some of the following areas:
* The analysis of academic spoken and written discourse.
* Language assessment.
* Discourse/Genre analysis and its applications to the study of a
  second language.
* Critical studies of second language literacy.

The successful candidate will be able to provide leadership in
developing effective methods of language support for the large body of
students for whom English is an additional language, including
establishing appropriate interdepartmental links.
