Hello, everyone.

Because educators at all levels are currently concerned with
developing academic vocabulary in their students, I'm interested in
finding out the vocabulary the students are exposed to in their
textbooks. I'd like to research the vocabulary patterns (collocations,
lexical phrases, lexical bundles) found in subject area textbooks at
the elementary and high school levels. Does anyone know of work
currently being done in this area? Biber and Conrad in particular, I
know, have researched the vocabulary of university and professional
texts, but I know of no work being done in the K-12 (kindergarten
through 12th grade) level. Any help you can give would be greatly
apprecitated. Yours,
