Description:

This is a continuing position.		

Duties		

Support the mission of NRC and IIT with R&D activities of
international scientific and technological caliber. Enhance the
quality and growth of e-business in collaboration with universities
and private sector partners and foster the growth and competitiveness
of the Canadian information technology community. Carry out innovative
R&D activities in the area of e-business with a focus on
internationalization, localization and translation services over the
Web.

		
Screening Criteria		

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application
that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given
further consideration as candidates.

Candidates for the position will include two recent research
publications with application, one of which will be sole authored by
the candidate.

		
Education		

The candidate must possess an advanced degree (Master's) in
Engineering or a Ph.D. in a field relevant to the proposed research
programs. Candidates with an advanced degree in one of the following
areas will be considered:, Computer Science, Anthropology, Cognitive
Science, Education, Ethnography, Geography, History, Languages,
Library and Information Sciences, Linguistics, Psychology, Sociology,
or Translation.


Experience		

Work experience in multidisciplinary software projects, any of the
areas listed as "Technical Competencies," or in related fields would
be an asset. A proven research record would be an asset.
	
Language Requirements		
Bilingual non imperative (BBB/BBB)
Knowledge of additional languages would be an asset.		

Assessment Criteria		
Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:


Technical Competencies		
An in-depth knowledge of one or more of the following areas is required:

Cross-cultural communications, Portability and internationalization,
Human-computer interaction, Natural language processing, Cross
Language Information Retrieval, Ethnographic studies, Knowledge
Management, Evaluation techniques, Machine translation, Software
design for internationalization, Software localization, Knowledge and
reasoning systems, Knowledge management, Adaptive user interfaces,
Software evaluation techniques, Computer-Supported Collaborative Work,
Large-scale databases, Unified data models, Web/Internet standards,
Interchange formats (including XML), Component-based
implementations,Online Customer Relation Management.

Ability to conduct independent research. Ability to write quality
scientific articles. Ability to manage and coordinate
multidisciplinary scientific projects. Ability to interact positively
with research partners.
