This is a session of the following conference: World Congress on
Applied Linguistics


Meeting Description:

Language and Business AILA 2005, the 14th World Congress of Applied
Linguistics, will be held July 24-29, 2005, in Madison, Wisconsin. The
Language and Business Program of the conference will be coordinated by
the Center for International Business Education and Research at the
University of Wisconsin- Madison.

Featured papers and symposia of the language and business program will
seek to highlight research, case studies, simulations and workshops
about curricula, technology and pedagogies relating to integrating
business, culture and language. Proposals are encouraged on, but not
limited to, the following topics: new course designs, methods of
teaching business languages, interdisciplinary programs and the
teaching of languages for the professions.

Proposals for the language and business program will be accepted March
1 - June 1, 2004 through the AILA 2005 Web site: www.aila2005.org.

Marie Labelle (Université du Québec à Montréal)
Giuseppe Longobardi (Universita  di Trieste)
Carme Picallo (Universidad Autònoma de Barcelona)
Cristina Schmitt (Michigan State University)

Papers on all areas of Romance linguistics are welcome. The
presentations will take thirty minutes, with an additional ten minutes
for discussion.  Abstracts should be anonymous and no longer than two
pages, including references and examples, with margins of at least
1-inch, letter size 12, single-spaced. Submissions are limited to a
maximum of one individual and one joint abstract per author.

The abstracts should be sent by e-mail to
j.e.c.v.rooryck at let.leidenuniv.nl.  Only PDF files will be
accepted. These should be anonymous both in the body of the text and
the filename. Please make sure all fonts and figures are correctly
rendered. Join separately a file containing: title, author's name and
address, affiliation and e-mail address. Please indicate whether you
would like to present your paper during the general sessions on
Thursday or Friday, or during the diachronic phonology workshop on
Saturday, by mentioning "main session" or workshop" in the header of
the abstract .  Papers not conforming to these requirements will not
be taken into consideration.

All authors who present their work at the conference
will be invited to submit their paper for the Proceedings.
