Description:

Applications are invited for a newly created tenured position in
Foreign Language Education/Second Language Acquisition at the
University of Kentucky. Appointment to the position will begin with
the 2005-2006 academic year, and the position will be housed jointly
in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures and
Cultures (3/4), College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of
Curriculum and Instruction (1/4), College of Education.
Qualifications: a PhD in Foreign Language Education, in Second
Language Acquisition, or in one of the following language content
areas: French, German, Latin, Russian, Spanish; native or near-native
fluency in English and one or more of the four modern languages
indicated; a record of excellence in teaching, research and service;
evidence of successful grant writing; experience in working with a
state department of education. The successful candidate will lead
existing faculty with expertise in language pedagogy and second
language acquisition in implementing a new MA program in Teaching
World Languages with initial certification P-12 and in developing
individual and joint research projects. Send letter of application, a
