Description:

Tenure-track Assistant Professor of French, starting Fall 2005.

Specialization: Ph.D. in French with strong background or work in
Language Pedagogy and Second Language Acquisition to teach courses in
upper division and graduate language, methodolgy for future HS
teachers, history of the language, phonetics, translation and
interpreting.  Candidate will be responsible for the coordination of
the teacher licensure program, advising teacher licensure students and
should be prepared to participate in outreach projects with the local
high schools.  Ability to teach Latin and/or Italian desirable, as is
strong interest or experience in technology for language teaching and
OPI training.

Requirements: Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment, native or
near-native command of French and English, evidence of excellence in
teaching, publications or evidence of scholarly potential.  Letter of
application and complete dossier, including three letters of
recommendation, and transcripts or record of studies undertaken should
be postmarked by November 5, 2004 for full consideration, however the
search will continue until the position is filled.  This is an ''open
search'': once the search committee has identified semi-finalists,
departmental faculty will have access to those files.
