Description:

Assistant Professor, full-time, academic year, tenure-track, to begin
Fall Quarter, 2005.  Ph.D. in linguistics with a strong generalist
background in either literature or composition and rhetorical theory
and teaching experience required.  The applicant will be expected to
teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in general,
theoretical, and applied linguistics as well as courses in literature
or general education composition and composition and rhetorical
theory, depending on his or her secondary area.  It is expected that
the candidate's yearly linguistics responsibility will be at least 60%
of his or her teaching load. Cal Poly is primarily a teaching
university with a 3-3-3 quarter load and correspondingly reasonable
research expectations.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and
