Meeting Description:

Conference Goals are to:

1. Provide a forum for the discussion and development of research
pertaining to multicultural populations with an emphasis on language,
poverty, and culture.

2. Encourage the professional development of young researchers and
clinicians interested in multicultural populations by providing
opportunities to network with experienced professionals.

3. Facilitate the timely dissemination of current research.

Proposals are invited for poster presentations for the conference.
The conference theme will be language, poverty, and culture.
Submissions on any topic related to cultural aspects of speech and
language, or assessment and treatment of communication disorders in
children and adults from multicultural backgrounds are welcome.

Please include the following in your submission:
-	A cover letter stating that you are submitting a proposal for a
poster session, and listing the presentation's title, author(s),
author affiliations, contact address, telephone numbers, FAX numbers,
and e-mail addresses.
-	An original and two copies of a 75 word abstract suitable for
inclusion in the program, and
-	A summary narrative of 500 words that provides a clear
understanding of the presentation's content.

Posters guidelines:
-	Fits on a free-standing, 4' x 8' tack panel
-	Title banner (readable from 15-20 feet away)
-	All text and graphics readable from six feet away
-	Both surfaces of each panel will be used, so you should not plan on
hanging material over the top of the board.
-	Audiences respond best to presentations that are a mix of images
(drawings, graphs, charts, photos) and text.
-	Handouts are helpful to conference participants but are not
required.

Submission deadline is September 27, 2004.   Acceptance notification
will be mailed by October 15, 2004.   * *Proposals will be accepted
through October 25, 2004

Languages

SECOND AND FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS

Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for
discussion) on any aspect of Romance Linguistics.

Special Parasession:
Current approaches to Historical Linguistics and Dialectology.

Abstracts should be no more than two pages in length, US letter
(including examples and references), in 12-point type. All margins
should be at least one inch wide (or 2.5 cm). Authors are asked to
submit their abstracts as e-mail attachments (pdf or rtf formats are
preferred, MS Word is also acceptable) with a hard copy to follow
within 1 week. No faxes will be accepted. In the email message,
please also include the title of the paper, name of the author(s),
affiliation(s), address, phone number, and e-mail address.

To facilitate the review process, please indicate the primary area of
linguistics addressed in the paper. Those who wish to be considered
for both the Main Session and the Parasession should send two sets of
materials (please indicate MAIN SESSION / PARASESSION). Submissions
are limited to a maximum of one individual and one joint abstract per
author. Preference will be given to presentations not duplicated at
other major conferences (e.g., LSA, NELS, WCCFL). Authors are asked
to indicate prior or planned presentations of their papers.
