Description:
The Linguistics Department at the University of Kansas invites applications
for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Second Language
Acquisition, starting August 18, 2005 pending budgetary approval.

A Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related field with a specialization in
second language acquisition is required. The successful candidate will have
a strong record of research in second language acquisition which is
informed by linguistic theory.

Preferred qualifications include excellence in teaching, potential for
external funding, and specialization in a language area (such as Africa,
Asia, Europe, or the Americas).

Responsibilities will include maintaining an active research program,
supervising graduate and undergraduate research, teaching existing courses
in second language acquisition, and contributing to departmental
governance. We seek applicants whose interests and experience intersect
with existing research in the department.

A complete application will include a letter of application expressing
research and teaching interests, curriculum vitae, sample publications, and
