Description:

The Department of International Communication at Gunma Prefectural Women's
University (GPWU) in Japan invites applications for a full-time tenure-track
teaching position to begin in October, 2005.

Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in linguistics or related field,
specializing in sociolinguistics or communication studies.  Candidates should be
native speakers of English but a working knowledge of Japanese is also required.

Work responsibilities include teaching five or six courses per semester,
including linguistics and English language classes such as Communication
Theory Seminar, Fundamentals of Written Communication, Essay Writing,
English for Newspapers and Magazines, and Advanced Essay Writing.  Normal
administrative responsibilities will also be required.

Short-listed candidates wil be requested to take an interview in Japanese
on the GPWU campus.  (Note: We regret that reimbursement for travel
expenses incurred is not available.)

A final decision will be announced by the end of July, 2005.
