Course Tutors in EAP
The University of Nottingham Ningbo China
Centre for English Language Education

The University of Nottingham is the first, and so far the only, foreign
university to have received a licence to establish a campus in China under
new legislation passed in China in 2003. Working with the Wanli Education Group,
based in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, and with political support at municipal,
provincial and national levels, the campus opened with its first 250 students,
in September 2004.  For the first year, the campus has been based at Zhejiang
Wanli University in Ningbo.  A new state-of-the-art campus is being built and
will open in September 2005.  The student population is predicted to grow to
4,000 by 2010, with a second phase of expansion planned.

In line with most Chinese degrees, the undergraduate courses are four years
in duration, with the first year focusing on intensive English language
improvement, preparatory academic content and orientation to European
thought and culture.  Through its Centre for English Language Education
(CELE), the University seeks to add to a team of experienced English language
teaching professionals who have a detailed knowledge of EAP teaching and a good
understanding of the needs of Chinese learners preparing to study at degree
level in English.
 
Course Tutors in English for Academic Purposes (Fixed-term)

All posts require RSA/Cambridge ESOL DELTA or an MA in ELT/Applied Linguistics
(or equivalent) and English as a first language, or similar English language
competence.  Additional requirements are given below.

- A minimum of three years' full-time EFL teaching, together with EAP-related
teaching (e.g. UK University 'Presessional' work) and experience overseas are
essential.

- Candidates must also be confident in analysing language, and in providing
constructive and explicit feedback on students' spoken and written work.

- Experience of teaching business studies, cultural or communication studies
will be beneficial.

Salary will be within the range £19,460 - £21,640 per annum, depending on
qualifications and experience.  The salary will be pro rata for fractional
contracts.   Full-time, fractional contracts will be offered from September 2005
for a period of 10 or 24 months.  A competitive overseas package of benefits is
also available if appropriate.

Nottingham Ningbo China.
