Job opportunities as of July 1st, 2005, for three years 2 post-graduate
researchers (half positions) in a research project on 'Phono-Prosodic 
Development of Catalan in the Present Bilingual Context'. The project examines
the present state and  development of the Catalan language, especially in
Barcelona, where it is in close contact with Spanish. The project focuses on
phonology, taking also into consideration  lexical and syntactic data of three
generations: children, adolescents and adults. It is one of 12 projects of the
Collaborative Research Center on Multilingualism funded by the DFG (Deutsche
Forschungsgemein-schaft, German Research Foundation) established at the
University of Hamburg in 1999. The position is part-time and gives the
researcher the opportunity of doing a Ph.D.

Applicants should have a University Degree in Linguistics, in the area of
phonetics and/or phonology, and have native-language command of Catalan and
excellent knowledge of Catalan grammar, as well as good knowledge of English
and/or German. Experience in acoustic analysis is required. Computing experience
and knowledge of statistics would be an advantage.

The University of Hamburg wishes to increase the number of women among their
