Description:

Director, National Flagship Language Initiative Korean Flagship Program,
position number 83901T, University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Languages,
Linguistics, and Literature. Non-tenure track, full-time, 12-month appointment,
to begin August 1, 2005, renewal subject to funding and performance.

Duties:
Supervise coordinators, instructors, graduate assistants, and other Flagship
staff, including local coordinator of the Korean Flagship Overseas Program at
Korea University, Seoul; coordinate testing and need analyses of incoming
Flagship students; supervise domestic and overseas advanced-level task-based
Korean language programs; help arrange academic and professional internships;
liaise with federal sponsors; some travel.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, or related field;
high level of fluency in English and Korean; tertiary-level Korean curriculum
development, materials writing, and language teaching and testing experience;
excellent communication and organizational skills; demonstrated expertise in
second language acquisition and Task-Based Language Teaching.

Desirable qualifications:
Familiarity with ACTFL or ILR proficiency testing, Language for Specific
Purposes (esp. Academic or Occupational), and/or instructional technology;
research publications in second language acquisition and/or language teaching.

Pay: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
