Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champaign is searching for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor 
position in sociolinguistics. The candidate should have a strong record of 
research and teaching in one or more of the following areas: discourse 
analysis, multilingualism, language contact, and social dialectology.  
Candidates should be prepared to teach both undergraduate and graduate 
courses in sociolinguistics.  The salary is commensurate with experience.  
The appointment will start on August 16, 2006.

The ideal candidate will be someone whose research interests complement 
and build on existing strengths of the department and who is eager to 
engage with students and faculty in the broader linguistic community at 
UIUC.

The successful candidate must have completed all the requirements for the 
PhD degree.  For full consideration, applications must be received by 
October 15, 2005. Candidates are requested to submit a CV, three sample 
publications, teaching evaluations, and arrange for three letters of
