Description:

Assistant Professor in English Language and Linguistics, tenure-track,
working in the areas of phonology (including phonetics and prosody) and
language variation and change, both diachronic and synchronic.  We
encourage applications from candidates who are able to make connections to
our strong programs in literature, creative writing, and/or composition and
rhetoric.  This Assistant Professorship carries a 2-2 teaching load, with
courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Candidates should
demonstrate a commitment to advanced research and a wide range of research
skills, as well as proficiency in teaching.  Scholarly research and
University service required.

Applicants should send two copies--one by email, one by regular mail--of
their initial materials:  application letter, curriculum vitae, and 1-2
page description of dissertation or book.  The email copy should be sent to
employment at english.wisc.edu.  The paper version of these materials should
be sent to Chair's Assistant, Department of English, at the address below.

Send dossiers and writing samples only upon request from the search
committee (rather than sending them as part of the initial materials).  If
possible, emails should be flagged with a tracking option to request a read
receipt for the message.
