Description:

The Institution:
The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is a national system of twelve colleges
located in five of the seven United Arab Emirates - one of the most progressive
and tolerant countries in the Middle East. HCT provides post-secondary
vocational education to Emirati men and women through colleges that are located
in - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain. The size of
the campuses ranges from 500 students in smaller cities to almost 3,000 students
in the larger centers. Student enrollment is currently more than 14,500 and
growing. Almost 70% of our students are women. The language of instruction and
in the corporate environment is English. Education provided is to a Western
standard.

The Positions:
The Academic Services Department in Abu Dhabi is seeking two individuals with a
proven track record in promoting academic standards and implementing continuous
quality improvement, professional development and change initiatives to
introduce and/or enhance existing practices to fill the following position:

1.	Supervisor, English Curriculum 
2.	Supervisor, English Assessment

Reporting to the Dean of General Education, the successful incumbents will work
collaboratively across the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) to support the
design development, delivery, review and analysis of curriculum products and
processes in HCT's tertiary educational programs. They will work closely with
each other to ensure that valid and reliable evaluation of student performance
occurs at designated checkpoints in the English curriculum across programs at
Diploma, Higher Diploma and BA levels. S/he also plays a key role in providing
data for institutional research in the area of English curriculum design at the HCT.

Requirements:
•- A Bachelor's degree in Education or other relevant field. 
•- A Master's degree (or higher) with a major component in curriculum design
and evaluation, materials design or related field. 
•- An EFL teaching qualification. 
•- Familiarity with online course delivery in e-and blended learning. 
•- Minimum three years tertiary teaching experience in a relevant field. 
•- Course and materials design experience. 
•- Experience leading educational change or innovation. 
•- Superior interpersonal, communication, team-building and leadership skills to
work effectively, in a dynamic, cross cultural environment. The ability to adapt
to change and thrive in a diversified culture is essential. 
- A disposition marked by respect for colleagues and clients, empathy, and a
developmental-facilitative orientation to education development.

The Supervisor of English Assessment will satisfy the following requirements, in
addition to the above:
•- Good working knowledge of test development and validation statistical
packages (SPSS, multi faceted Rasch modeling).
- Standardised test design and alternative assessment design experience.

Salary and Benefits:
The Higher Colleges of Technology offers employees a competitive starting
salary that is free of taxation in the United Arab Emirates. Accommodation is
provided, as is a relocation allowance. Families are welcome and assistance is
provided for school fees at international private schools. Employees and
eligible dependents receive annual air tickets to allow travel back to country
of origin. At the completion of a three-year contract, an end-of-service
gratuity (one month's salary per year of service) is provided.
