Description:

Applications are invited for one postdoctoral research position (salary scale
BAT IIa) for three years (not renewable) in a research project on
'Neurolinguistic studies on the functional organization of the mental lexicon',
funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) as
part of the Sonderforschungsbereich 471 'Variation and evolution in the lexicon'.

Project description: 
The main focus of the project is to understand how linguistic representations
change over time. We will study language contact situations and use
neurolinguistic methods (EEG, fMRI combined with EEG) to examine the effects of
learning two different linguistic systems. Start¬ing point is the investigation
of segmental and suprasegmental phonological representations.

Requirements:
Applicants should have an M.A. degree (or equivalent) in linguistics or
psychology or have a medical education. They should have received a PhD in one
of these fields or other disciplines related to studies in human Cognitive
Neuroscience of language. Experiences in EEG, fMRI and other brain imaging
techniques and highly developed skills in scientific writing, the ability to
become acquainted with new methods within short time and good familiarity with
scientific tools like MATLAB programming and statistical analysis are appreciated.
