Description:

Applications are invited for one predoctoral research position (salary scale BAT
IIa/2) for three years (not renewable) in a research project on
'Morphophonological variation at word edges in Romance languages', funded
by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) as part
of the Sonderforschungsbereich 471 'Variation and evolution in the lexicon'.

Project description: 
The project investigates phenomena of morphophonological variation at word
edges. It will focus on processes of word-final vowel deletion and on allomorphy
of function words.  Current theories of the interface between phonology,
morphology and syntax serve as theoretical background. The languages under
investigation are Italian, Piemontese and Catalan.

Requirements:
Applicants should have an M.A. degree (or equivalent) in linguistics, with
a specialization in Romance languages. They should have good knowledge of at
least two Romance languages, among which preferably Italian or Catalan. The
successful applicant is expected to undertake research toward their PhD in
linguistics.
